  • Board of Cuxhaven Port Association (HWG) re-elected

Head of the Cuxhaven's Economic Development Agency becomes newest member of the HWG board

HWG Mitgliederversammlung 2020 2Cuxhaven, 5 November 2020 – At the 47th general meeting of the Cuxhaven Port Association (HWG) in the community hall of Cuxhaven, the 15-members board of directors was confirmed in office for the next two years. In addition, Marc Itgen, head of Cuxhaven's Economic Development Agency, reinforces the committee of the maritime industry's lobby with immediate effect.

Hans-Peter Zint, Chairman of the Board, thanked the members for their continuing trust and at the same time welcomed the newest board member: "We are very pleased that the traditionally close cooperation between the Port Association and the City of Cuxhaven will continue through the commitment of Marc Itgen. Next year we will further promote the port of Cuxhaven and position it as a good alternative route for transports between Continent and UK in the Brexit scenario". Other priorities include the further development of the German Offshore Industry Centre and the electrification of the railway lines to and from Cuxhaven. “We are confident that together and in cooperation with the city of Cuxhaven, state port operator Niedersachsen Ports, Seaports of Niedersachsen and other relevant authorities and politicians, we can continue to achieve positive results,” adds Zint.

The Cuxhaven Agency for Economic Development (AfW) is the regional point of contact for businesses and start-ups for all matters concerning funding programs and business and economic development. The main objective is the sustainable strengthening and further development of Cuxhaven as a centre for trade, business and industry. Thus, the AfW has also accompanied the German Offshore Industry Centre Cuxhaven on its way to becoming one of the pioneering locations of its kind in Europe. Since 2019 Marc Itgen has been head of the Cuxhaven Agency for Economic Development. Prior to this, he worked for Vattenfall Europe Windkraft and RWE OLC, among others. Here he was responsible for various offshore projects. He now brings this knowledge to the work of the HWG board, thus making a valuable contribution to the further development of the German Offshore Industry Centre.

Copyright Thomas SassenCuxhaven, 26 April 2018 - At the 45th general meeting of the Cuxhaven Port Association (HWG) on 17 April 2018 at Donner's Hotel, the 17-member board of directors was confirmed in office for the next two years. 43 members of the association, which represents the interests of companies around the port of Cuxhaven, attended the meeting.

The only change in the board is the addition of Thomas Lemke, Managing Director of Boots- und Schiffswerft Cuxhaven. In addition, Marcus Braue replaces the resigned Ortolf Barth in representing DFDS within the board.

Chairman of the board Hans-Peter Zint thanked the attending members for the renewed confidence: "In 2017, we were able to address our target groups and markets and to position the topics that are important to our port via our successful port breakfast format, active participation in Seaports of Niedersachsen's ‘port meets hinterland’ series of events and last but not least our CuxDay in Hamburg. This year we will again focus on the further development as well as on the challenges and opportunities for the Port of Cuxhaven".

Arne Ehlers, Vice Chairman, added: "The further development of Cuxhaven’s ‘German Offshore Industry Centre’, the HWG's commitment to promoting young talent in port logistics and the electrification of railway lines to and from Cuxhaven are only some of the priorities we have set ourselves for 2018. We are confident that together and in cooperation with the city of Cuxhaven, state port operator Niedersachsen Ports, and other relevant authorities and politicians, we can continue to achieve positive results."
