Cuxhaven receives new RoRo-connection to France
Weekly calls from and departures to Saint-Nazaire to start from Cuxport-Terminal
On its way from the French port Nantes Saint-Nazaire to Hamburg, the vessel “Ville de Bordeaux” of logistics company LD Seaplane will begin calling at the port of Cuxhaven on Thursdays from now on. Going forward, this call will deliver new trucks from France for the German market. The route may be expanded later on and it may, in the future, be used for both import and export, says Oliver Fuhljahn, head of vehicle logistics at Cuxport.
The integration of the port of call in Cuxhaven in the current schedule is made possible by the quick and flexible service at the Cuxport terminal facility. “Cuxhaven was able to win out due to its efficiency; it once again showed the port’s potential. A prerequisite for the successful addition was and is the good working relationship with shipbroker Herbert C. Meyer in Stade,” noted Oliver Fuhljahn.
The baseload of the “Ville de Bordeaux” consists of parts for the airplane industry; the transport of rolling heavy lift and project cargo as well as of vehicles is also possible. Julien Brault, Commercial Manager at LD Seaplane, added: “At the same time, the new connection to France is also important to connect the German Offshore Industry Centre in Cuxhaven with the offshore wind industry in France. We see a lot of potential to further increase trading volumes.”
