  • BREB Shipping Company Expands Adriatic and North African Business

Regular liner services to the Maghreb and between the nearby Mediterranean states

BREB Joint Liner Service (Copyright: BREB)The Cuxhaven-based shipping company BREB GmbH & Co. KG has expanded its liner services in the Adriatic and the Maghreb region. Since the beginning of the year, together with the Belgian shipping company Boeckmans, the Joint Liner Service is serving ports in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya. BREB’s geared vessels with 4,000-9,000 tons deadweight capacity are traversing from the Baltic via intermediate points in Germany, Benelux, UK, France and the Iberian Peninsula on their way to North Africa. “The possibility of loading and unloading cargo with shipside gear in all ports provides additional flexibility to the customer and makes it possible to transport heavy project cargoes,” said BREB’s Managing Director Arne Ehlers.

Boeckmans Belgium N.V. is increasing its sailings from Antwerp at the same time and is also offering a container service from Rotterdam via Antwerp to Casablanca. The Joint Liner Service will, in practice, have more regular departures on the basis of the combined tonnage. Both companies enjoy a large network of shipping agents, port contacts and years of experience and, as such, are uniting their efforts and resources for the benefit of all customers. All cargo types are accepted, e.g. general, bulk and project cargoes along with containerized and hazardous goods.

Prior to this, BREB reinforced its longstanding business involving the carriage of forest products out of the Adriatic with the new liner service BREB Adriatic Parcel Service. The service connects Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia as well as Spain and Portugal with a high port frequency in the Adriatic. In addition to forest products, steel products, containers and project cargoes have been carried. For this, geared ships are also used.

BREB GmbH & Co. KG, formally Bremer Reederei Eilemann & Bischoff, was founded in 1951 in Bremen. Since 2014, it has its company headquarters in Cuxhaven. Further branch offices with regular employees are maintained in Bremen, Lisbon, Sassnitz and Zeebrugge. BREB is a classic shipping company with its own ships, shipping department and its own agency and port-based logistic services. In total, BREB operates 12 of its own as well as chartered MPC vessels. Annually, it carries more than a million tons of freight in 350 journeys across Europe.
